Mercedes Torres was born in the Dominican Republic, where she earned a DMD degree. Dr. Torres has lived in the United States since she was 22 years old. Dr. Torres has been teaching for 24 years. Her experience in education includes foreign language instruction in Spanish to children and adults, World Language Tech liaison, new teacher mentor, workshop presenter, program and project organizer, and professional development facilitator.

Dr. Torres is an extrovert and enjoys working with and being around people. Dr. Torres is a wife, a mother of two girls and a boy, and a grandmother of two girls and a boy. Dr. Torres is actively involved in many activities around her community and collaborates with many non-profit organizations.
