Course AE200 Reading Analysis – Writing II
Are you ready to achieve Academic English Reading ? Then this is the course that will begin your journey into mastering the world language. This 8-week course will get you started on building critical cognitive areas to improve your speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in English. As you complete sections of the course, you will have synchronous sessions with a certified English Instructor that will provide an engaging session to reinforce the skills that you have been practicing.
Course Description: This is a high beginning English as a Second Language reading course created for students in Academic English (AE Program). It focuses on vocabulary and comprehension on a standard level.
Requirement:
Completion of AE 100 or Placement assessment in AE200 qualifies a student to take AE200 Reading Comprehension course.

What You Will Learn:
- Demonstrate the ability to increase his or her vocabulary systematically; understand the meaning of new words from context; and use textual cues such as sentence connectors and/or cognates to determine meaning and structure; develop dictionary skills; and recognize and interpret denotative and connotative language.
- Demonstrate the ability to read simple text with some fluency; distinguish main ideas from supporting ideas; understand new information from texts; and understand common cultural references.
